I find I take photos with my iphone ALL of the time as opposed to bringing my big camera everywhere!!  :)

Before Christmas, I received an email from a fellow Yukoner, Kinesi.  She is living in Vancouver attending photography school.  Her email asked me if she could come and work with me for eight working days.  I was thrilled, honored, humbled…to say the least.

Before I responded to her, I questionned….am I good enough to have someone working with me for 8 days?  What would I teach her?  What would I show her?  January is usually a slower time for me, would she learn anything with me?

I emailed her back, explained my feelings but said she was welcome to come none the less!

She responded saying she was sure there was lots to be learned and so we coordinated our dates and she booked her ticket.

As her time with me neared, my calender began filling up.  I had a FULL Boudoir Marathon, scheduled while she was here, and we booked some fun concept shoots to allow her to be a part of them.

She arrived eager to learn and work!  As I had imagined we conversed freely and have tons in common; not just with photography.

She completely helped me transform my contract and model release system by putting it all onto my ipad (I feel SO high tech, my clients literally sign the ipad now, and magically the information is emailed to both myself and my clients).  AMAZING!

Kinesi taught me so much.  Not just about lighting (she is primarily artifical light, while I am natural), and not just about techniques and different working flows but also about myself.  

She taught me that I am actually doing a good job at balancing my home life and my photography life.  Something which for so long I had been so hard on myself about not doing a good job balancing.  It can be a very tricky things being a FULL time Mother to three boys, managing the household, volunteering at the school, driving everywhere, coordinating my boys activies and working on photography (which is supposed to be a part time gig).  I have a hard time not comparing myself to other photographers who can focus on photography full time and all they are accomplishing.  Instead of just focusing on the fact that I am doing AMAZING for myself.  :)  

Kinesi helped me come to this realization and I couldn’t feel more gratitude to her for it.  <3

Kinesi is a very positive ray of light.  I KNOW she is going to do amazing things not only in the photography world but also in her personal life too.  :)  

Thank you for sharing some of your light with me, Kinesi.  Can’t wait for August!

Here are a few pictures from our boudoir shoot together.  One of our amazing clients from the day brought two snakes!!!! We had to leave the private condo where I take the Boudoir pics and walk down the hall to the stair well to get the affect we were aiming for.

Kinesi braved it and held the little snakes.  Not I!!!  Please pardon the yellow hue…no natural light was to be had!!  Hee Hee.

We used this towel to cover Miss E everytime someone would come by.  I was sooo frightened they would report the snakes, lol.  And this one kept sneaking past the towel!

It’s been a little while since I took this familie’s pictures (back before we had snow and there was still green everywhere…hurry spring).  But thought I would share their pictures none the less!  :)  

I was happy with C and I finally set up a date to do photos, we had been emailing back and forth for quite some time!

Meet B & S and their dear, sweet dogs.   I had such a lovely time walking and taking pictures.  B & S have to be two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.  B is soooo full of life and happiness and I could completely see that S in so in love with her.

Their dogs were so great and added so much warmth.  Enjoy the pictures….
